Summary: The mandatory internship is a supervised school educational act that allows the student to integrate theory into practice, as well as contributes to their citizen shapingand qualifies them for the organizational environment. The legislative history referring to the theme evidences a paradigm shift in the legislation from a technicist stage to a pedagogic stage. This way, this work had the objective to identify the main contributions and deficiencies of the Mandatory Internship of the Federal University of Espírito Santos Law School from the students perspective, through the application of questionnaire to the students enrolled in the disciplines of Supervised Internship I, II and III of said course in the second semester of 2018. The results show that the most cited contributions derive from external mandatory internship, such as: acquisition of new knowledge and professional techniques, development of personal skills and abilities, and the practical application of theoretical concepts. Regarding the deficiencies, were found: inefficiency of the internal mandatory internship in the Legal Practice Center of the University, insufficient follow-up of the Internship Teacher Adviser and absence of diversity among the subjects of the Internship disciplines. A SWOT matrix was then built to support the proposal for a new Mandatory Internship Regulation, technical product of this paper, in order to remedy the deficiencies found, taking into account the provisions of Resolution CNE / CES Nº. 5 of December 17, 2018, which establishes the new National Curricular Guidelines of Law School courses, which should be put into practice in the pedagogical projects of Higher Education Institutions until the end of 2020.
