Summary: This research aims to understand, from the theoretical perspective of Pierre Bourdieu, the institutional behavior of the Conselho Superior do Ifes, in the mandate of 2014-2016, from the perspective of its elected members, since this council, composed of representatives of the segments has an intriguing particularity, that is, not disapproval of the meeting items. To do so, oral history will be used as a scientific method for conducting interviews and content analysis for data analysis. The data show that the habitus of counselor, which allows an accumulation of the symbolic capital valued in the Superior Council of the Ifes, contributed to a distance between representatives and represented. The Superior Council has characteristics of the political field, therefore, the impossibility of understanding its actions only by the produced documentation, that is, minutes and resolutions. Its organization and rule grant a distinction to the leaders in function of the others, who possess the institutional capital, and through this, they exercise symbolic violence to the others, conserving the hierarchy of the field.
