Summary: The collection of information about phenomena that have geographic distribution is important, since it allows to locate points within a certain space and to make localizational analyzes. The use of this type of information has been widely used to assist in the decision - making planning of several companies, and more recently it has been adopted by some public management bodies due to its efficiency. This work aims to create a spatial database in a Geographic Information System (GIS) of the UFES Campus, located in Alegre / ES, in order that it serves as a management tool for decision making. The work will begin with the collection of qualitative data, highlighting the main characteristics of each building built and its occupation in time, then will be used bibliographic and documentary research techniques in order to support the discussions on the proposed theme. Finally, a GIS database will be prepared with all the information related to the site. The study area comprises the campus of the Federal University of Espírito Santo - UFES, located in Alegre-ES, which was covered by the government extension plans and had its built area increased in the period from 2004 to 2014. The lack of adequate planning in the location of these works causes several problems to the campus, such as lack of parking spaces, insufficient class sizes and sizes, green areas of small proportions, among others. The creation of the spatial database, the final product to be achieved with this dissertation project, will minimize future impacts from the conscious management decisions. The proposal is part of the Public Sector Operations Management research line, in which the supervisor of this work is allocated.
