Summary: The purpose of the research was to analyze the reasons that lead to the lack of
parking and traffic problems inside the campus of Alegre, Federal University of
Espírito Santo. Located in the municipality of the same name, this campus has 2,465 students enrolled in the undergraduate and postgraduate courses, distributed in two centers, Center of Agrarian Sciences and Engineering, and the Center of Exact, Natural and Health Sciences, besides owning 205 teachers, 153 technicaladministrative servants in education and 70 outsourced servers. A questionnaire was applied with the users (students, teachers, administrative technicians and outsourced servers) and automotive vehicle counts were carried out in order to obtain a list of the
days and peak times. Based on the results obtained, it was found that, despite being a minority in the group of students on campus, the impact caused by vehicles belonging to employees is determinant for the situation of overcrowding several times observed day by day. The research is completed with a proposal for sustainable mobility that can be effectively applied to the case at hand.
