Summary: The research proposal is to analyze the visual language applied to the didactic book used in distance education with the purpose of guiding Public Teaching Institutions regarding the elaboration and choice of the textbook that is visually more appropriate. Will be considered the books of the first period of the degree in Visual Arts in the modality of distance learning of Ufes. The cut was adopted because it was the first contact of the student with the visual language used in this material. The research will have theoretical framework authors of graphic design that are based on Gestalt Theory. Visual planning is an important part of the learning process because it contributes to the understanding of course content. The good visual quality of textbooks aimed at distance education interferes in a more incisive way than in face-to-face courses, since the student does not count on the physical presence of the teacher to clarify any doubts. In the work will be analyzed the visual compositions of the selected material in order to identify the characteristics that favor and those that compromise the visual communication of the didactic book.
