Summary: The objective of this study was to analyze the organizational climate of the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES), Campus São Mateus, in order to diagnosing the existing climate and identifying the factors that interfere in the work environment, based on the perception of the employees included in this institution, so that such an analysis could serve as a managerial tool for decisions about the practice of managing people in the Campus. It was decided to make an applied and descriptive study, a case study of qualitative and quantitative nature, using as a data collection tool the model elaborated and validated by Rizzatti (2002), adapted in 2005 by Rizzatti and Rizatti Júnior, which supported the formulation of questionnaires with closed and open questions, as well as participant observation. This instrument aims at analyzing the organizational climate specifically in public universities based on the evaluation of six categories and their respective components: Image and Institutional Evaluation; Development of Human Resources, Benefits and Incentives; Organization and Work Environment; Interpersonal Relationship; Political-Administrative Succession and Leadership Behavior; Personal Satisfaction. The target audience of the research consisted of a stratified proportional sample of 93 employees, 42 of whom were administrative technicians in education (TAEs), and 51 were teachers in the Institution. The data collection took place through the application of an online questionnaire. The results found indicated a median climate with points to improve in all of the categories evaluated, and the Organization and Work Environment category was the only one diagnosed with negative climate perception. Finally, the results achieved in the open questions indicated the need for greater integration between the servers and a better management of conflicts. At the end, the project which is entitled Organizational Socialization Program was presented as a product of this dissertation, in order to make possible for actions to be taken and adjustments to made in the people management model in the São Mateus Campus.
