Summary: Considering the accelerated growth of environmental degradation, society cries for mechanisms able to ensure the renewal of natural resources and raw materials that are environmentally correct, and to do so it is necessary to promote a change in the patterns of usage of natural resources. State-owned companies purchase power is extremely relevant and, for this reason, the public sector must display changes in its acquisition forms and consume its goods and services, it must raise awareness of its employees, partners and supplier companies, making acquisitions under sustainability policies. The focus on sustainable bids occurs given that the main form of contracting
with the government is through bidding, so it is necessary to insert and apply
sustainability criteria in bidding to promote sustainable development. Therefore, the general objective of this work is to identify the application of the general sustainability criteria in Ufes bidding processes and, for this, are defined as specific objectives: to conduct a bibliographic survey of similar research; verify the number of bids made in the proposed period; identify the frequency of use of each bidding modality; identify
the frequency of use of the general sustainability criteria in Ufes events. Regarding the methodology, it is a research of descriptive character, presentation of results with quantitative and qualitative analyses, being divided into two stages: the first stage aims at proceeding with the collection of data from sources such as books, periodicals, laws and databases, performing a presentation of sustainability clauses present in the Ufes
bids; on the other handIn the second stage, data were collected from bidding
documents published on an electronic website. Therefore, it is expected that a
deficiency in the application of sustainability criteria in Ufes bidding processes was identified. Finally, a proposal was made with Sustainability Guidelines to expand the use of sustainability criteria in public tenders at Ufes.
