Summary: In May 2011, the United Nations (UN) launched the project “Decade for read safety 2011-2020”, after finding that 1.25 million people die in traffic accidents per year worldwide, in addition to 20 to 50 million people who are injured. Brazil is a signatory to international organizations and is also interested in collaborating with the worldwide effort to reduce the number of deaths a traffic injury. The Federal Highway Police (PRF) is one of the organs of the Brazilian federal executive branch responsible for operating on federal highways with ostensive policing, inspection, combat and prevention of crimes and administrative infractions, in addition to handling and recording traffic accidents. This research analyzed, quantitatively, the data from the records of traffic accidents carried out by PRF agents before and after the implementation of the electronic declaration of traffic accidents. In order to achieve the proposed objective, the impact on the number of fines applied with an approach was analyzed, as well as on the national fleet of vehicles during the period studied. Were realized research of current national and international laws that apply to the case of traffic accidents, the physical and virtual libraries that conceptualize public management policies in organization that aim to achieve effectiveness and efficiency. This dissertation was classified as to the purpose, objectives and methods, respectively, in applied, exploratory and hypothetical deductive. The files were downloaded, filtered and spreadsheet to build the graphics. It was demonstrated by the research that when the Federal Highway Police stops attending traffic accidents without social damage and starts to dedicate more time to inspections, then the number of deaths and injuries decreases significantly. Based on the results favorable to the reduction of deaths and injuries found in the survey, it was then possible to build a technical product such as “Technical Report Per Se” in which the BR 101/ES highway is mapped by the number of deaths, serious injuries or minor injuries, so that the PRF can distribute its human resources in inspection points that assist in the prevention of traffic accidents.
