Summary: The proposal to use business intelligence (BI) for the Civil Defense of Espírito Santo in the event
of rain-related disasters is an innovative initiative that aims to improve the efficiency, precision
and effectiveness of emergency response operations. Using data analysis technologies, the
proposal seeks to transform raw data into meaningful information and valuable insights to support
real-time decision-making during crisis situations. The proposed BI system consists of collecting
and analyzing a variety of data related to meteorological conditions, rainfall accumulations,
affected people, current hydrological and geological alerts, history of past disasters, and other
relevant variables. By applying data analysis algorithms, Civil Defense can identify patterns,
predict high-risk areas, estimate the potential impact of disasters and optimize resource
allocation. Furthermore, the use of BI allows the creation of interactive dashboards and detailed
reports, which can be shared with local authorities, emergency response teams and the general
public. This accessible real-time information facilitates coordination between different agencies
and helps in efficient evacuation from danger areas, directing relief resources and transparent
communication with affected citizens. By adopting this data-driven approach, Espírito Santo Civil
Defense can increase its response capacity, reduce reaction time in emergency situations and,
most importantly, save lives and protect property. This proposal represents a significant step
towards smarter and more effective disaster management, preparing the region to face the
challenges of intense rains in a more resilient and safe way.
